According to the 2014 Global Slavery Index, over 45 million people currently live in slavery and annual estimated profits generated as a result of forced labour amount to $US150bn.

Under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act commercial organisations supplying goods or services and with a turnover in excess of £36m are required to publish a slavery and human trafficking statement each financial year.

GoodCorporation has conducted Modern Slavery workshops for some of our clients, using key performance indicators to assess how effective a company has been in ensuring that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of the business or supply chain.

Using a set of tailored materials our Modern Slavery Workshops aim to help organisations:

• Identify and assess potential risk areas in supply chains and in the wider business.
• Help the business understand the ‘salient’ risks
• Identify the procedures needed to help mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in supply chains and the wider business.

The output from the workshop is a set of specific modern slavery and human rights risks, plotted on an impact/likelihood matrix with a tabular assessment of the risks and proposed mitigation action.

The output from the workshop can then be used in the organisation’s Modern Slavery Statement.
